On Tuesday, February 28, 2006, a girl, a big fan of World of Warcraft, who played as a magician under the nickname Fayejin, died of a stroke right at the computer. The guildmates, having learned about this sad event, decided to hold a funeral inside the game at Frostfire Springs, since the deceased loved to fish there.
On March 4, at 5:30, on the Illidan PvP server in the Winterspring location, the Horde guild began a funeral. After the memorial speech, those gathered formed a funeral procession.
At the same time, the Serenity Now Alliance guild rushed to attend this event in full force. And fully armed. Nobody expected the attack. Most of those gathered for the wake did not even take any weapons or armor with them. The massacre, not having time to begin, ended after 3 minutes. Serenity Now fighters killed everyone.
The community's reaction was stormy. Opinions were divided: some believed that it was just a game, everything turned out funny, and there was no need to arrange a funeral in the middle of a disputed PvP territory; others were in shock and considered those who committed this massacre to be almost moral monsters. Serenity Now responded to all this with a message on its forum: “We are really famous now. Lawl" (“We're really famous now. Lol.”)
Despite numerous petitions and requests, Blizzard never banned Serenity Now, since they did not violate a single game rule.
